The second model to be equipped with E-Tech Plug-in technology after the Renault Captur, the Mégane Plug-in Hybrid is available in two body styles: station wagon and sedan.

Developing up to 158 horsepower, the Mégane PHEV’s hybrid system is identical to that of the Captur. It combines a 91-hp 1.6-liter gasoline block with two electric motors. While the first 49 kW/66 hp unit can drive the wheels alone, the second only recharges the battery.

Available in 4 trim levels (Business, Limited, Intens and RS Line), the automaker claims a top speed of 135 km/h in electric mode and a 0 to 100 km/h time of less than 10 seconds.

Battery of the Renault Megane PHEV version : E-Tech

The PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) version of the Renault Megane is equipped with an electric motor and a combustion engine. The electric motor has an output of 49 kW and a 9.8 kWh battery. This battery is capable of delivering a purely electric range of 50 km according to the WLTP homologation cycle.

The internal combustion engine is a 1.6-liter gasoline engine rated at 67 kW. Together, the two engines produce a combined power of 116 kW, or around 160 hp. The Megane PHEV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.

The battery can be recharged in around 3 hours from a standard household AC outlet.

The Megane PHEV is also equipped with a regenerative braking system to recharge the battery, and a 100% electric driving mode for greener, more economical driving.
