The Peugeot iOn’s 14.5 kWh battery consists of 80 lithium-ion cells, designated LEV50, and has a voltage rating of 330 volts. Each cell has a capacity of 50 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.75 volts. The battery weighs about 200 kg. The battery has a forced air cooling system to prevent overheating during high charge and discharge rates and consequent damage. There is a fan built into the battery.

The Peugeot iOn has been equipped with an improved charging system, which allows the battery to be charged up to 50 kW in alternating current (AC), allowing up to 80% of the battery charge to be recovered in about 30 minutes.
