Find out more about the BMW Active Tourer

Launched in spring 2016 and based on the 2 Active Tourer Series, the BMW 2 Series plug-in hybrid has undergone several updates. In its latest version, it offers up to 80 km of range in electric mode and is positioned as the first plug-in hybrid minivan launched by BMW.

The Series 2 plug-in hybrid is available in several engine configurations:

– 225e xDrive is available in two versions. The first combining a 3-cylinder thermal engine with an 80 kW electric motor is equipped with a 7.6 kWh battery that offers a 45 km range (WLTP cycle) to the user. The second is equipped with a more powerful 10 kWh battery that allows to extend the range up to 60 km (WLTP cycle).

– 230e xDrive which combines a 3 cylinder heat engine with an electric motor delivering 130 kW. The vehicle is equipped with a 10 kWh battery which offers a range of 80 km (WLTP cycle) to the user.

Battery of the BMW Série 2 Active Tourer version : 225e xDrive 7,6 kWh

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer equipped with a 7.6 kWh battery consists of 56 LFP lithium-ion cells. The nominal battery voltage is 350 volts. Each cell has a capacity of 135 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.2 volts. The battery weighs approximately 115 kg.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is also equipped with a charging system that can reach a maximum power of 3.7 kW in alternating current (AC), which allows to recover up to 100% of the battery charge in about 2h30 hours.

The battery of BMW’s plug-in hybrid range is covered by a 6-year warranty, as of the vehicle’s launch date, and a distance of 100,000km.

Battery of the BMW Série 2 Active Tourer version : 225e xDrive 10 kWh

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer equipped with a 10 kWh battery consists of 70 NMC type lithium-ion cells. The nominal battery voltage is 360 volts. Each cell has a capacity of 143 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.75 volts. The battery weighs about 150 kg.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is also equipped with a charging system that can reach a maximum power of 3.7 kW in alternating current (AC), which allows to recover up to 100% of the battery charge in about 3h15 hours.

The battery of BMW’s plug-in hybrid range is covered by a 6-year warranty, as of the vehicle’s launch date, and a distance of 100,000km.
